About Vodopad Orfey
Orpheus Waterfall (Vodopad Orfey) is a waterfall in the Rhodope Mountains, in the Chepelare area of southern Bulgaria. Its name nods to the myth of Orpheus, the legendary singer whose homeland tradition places in the Rhodopes, lending a poetic note to an already pleasant stop in the heart of nature.
What to see The waterfall is a cool, picturesque pause on the trails through the dense Rhodope forests, with water dropping over rock in a shaded mountain setting. Its flow and appearance change with the seasons: it is most impressive in spring and after rain, when the water runs fuller. The spot is loved for its quiet atmosphere and for photos.
Practical It is usually reached on hiking paths, so proper footwear and care on wet or slippery sections are recommended. Late spring and summer are the best times. The surrounding Chepelare–Pamporovo area offers many mountain trails, traditional Rhodope villages and other natural sights that combine into a day out. Access and trail details can vary and are worth checking locally before you set off (details indicative).
