About Slivodolsko Padalo Waterfall
Slivodolsko Padalo Waterfall lies in the Rhodope mountains near the town of Chepelare, one of the tallest and most striking waterfalls in this part of Bulgaria. Hidden in the dense conifer forests of the Rhodopes, it rewards walkers who climb up to it with the sight of water plunging down a high rock wall.
What to see The water falls from a great height down a steep slope, forming a foaming veil framed by mountain forest and moss. The waterfall is at its strongest in spring and early summer, when snowmelt swells the flow; in dry summer months it drops considerably. The walk up passes through the classic landscape of the central Rhodopes — spruce forests, quiet and clean mountain air — making the journey as rewarding as the destination itself.
Practical The starting point is in the Chepelare area, from where a marked trail climbs through the forest to the falls. The route is a there-and-back hike of a few hours, with steeper sections, so proper footwear and a water supply are recommended. The best times are late spring and early summer for peak flow, and autumn for the forest colours. The wider Chepelare–Pamporovo area offers many other mountain attractions, from winter skiing to hiking and caves the rest of the year.
