About National Palace of Culture Park

The National Palace of Culture Park is one of Sofia's best-known urban spaces, spread out in front of the imposing building widely known by its initials, NDK. The greenery and surrounding plaza form a very popular place to stroll, for both locals and visitors discovering Bulgaria's capital.

What to see The National Palace of Culture is one of the largest congress and event centres in south-eastern Europe, a monumental building hosting concerts, conferences, performances and festivals. In front of it opens a broad esplanade with walkways, green areas, fountains and monuments, bordered by Vitosha Boulevard, the city's main shopping and pedestrian artery. It is a lively place, often used for open-air events, markets and concerts, where young people gather to hang out. On clear days, beyond the city, Vitosha Mountain rises on the horizon.

Practical The park lies in central Sofia, easily reached by metro, public transport, or on foot down Vitosha Boulevard. It is freely open in every season; spring and summer are the liveliest, and evenings bring a pleasant atmosphere. From here you can easily set off toward the capital's main sights and the cafés and shops of the centre. For events held inside the Palace, check the official programme.
