About Tsentralen plazh

Tsentralen Plazh — the Central Beach — sits right at the core of Balchik on Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coast. Balchik is no party resort but a port town with a character of its own, known for its waterfront, the Palace of Queen Marie and an unhurried mood — and the central beach breathes that same calm, steps from the promenade and the cafés along the shore.

Sand and getting in The shore is mixed, with sand giving way to patches of shingle and stone — worth keeping in mind when you pick your spot and your footwear. Entry into the sea is gradual, shelving gently from the shore, well suited to quiet bathing.

Practical The bathing season runs roughly from May to September, peaking in July and August. As a beach geared toward calm, it suits anyone after a relaxed day, couples, and visitors who pair the sand with a stroll along Balchik's waterfront. The town is easy to reach by car from Varna, a short way to the south, and its centre is full of restaurants and terraces overlooking the sea. On a mixed shore a pair of water shoes is handy; bring sun protection and water too.
