About Pamporovo Ski Resort
The best-known ski resort in the Rhodopes
Pamporovo is one of Bulgaria's leading mountain resorts and the country's southernmost major ski destination, set in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains. Surrounded by coniferous forest and known for its high number of sunny winter days, Pamporovo is especially popular with families and with beginner and intermediate skiers thanks to its friendly slopes. With a 4.7 rating, it remains a much-loved destination in both winter and summer.
What you can do
In winter, the resort offers groomed runs for skiing and snowboarding, served by lifts, ski schools and equipment rental. Above the resort rises the peak of Snezhanka, whose television tower doubles as a viewpoint — on clear days the panorama opens wide across the Rhodopes. In summer, the same area becomes an excellent base for hiking, forest walks and exploring traditional mountain villages. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the forested landscape has a charm of its own in every season.
Practical information
Pamporovo lies in southern Bulgaria, most often reached via the nearby town of Smolyan or along the mountain roads climbing up from the Plovdiv area. The ski season generally runs through the winter months, depending on snow, while summer is ideal for hiking. We recommend checking snow conditions and lift operating hours before you set out. Nearby it is well worth exploring the town of Smolyan, the traditional Rhodope villages and the spectacular scenery of the surrounding mountains.
