About Banderishka meadow
Banderishka Meadow
Banderishka Meadow is an alpine clearing in the Pirin massif, in the area of the Banderitsa valley above the town of Bansko. Set in the heart of Pirin National Park, it is one of the pleasant spots along the route climbing toward the high mountains, among coniferous forest and rocky peaks.
What to see
The meadow offers open space, clean mountain air and views toward the Pirin ridges — a classic alpine landscape of firs, streams and, in summer, a carpet of wildflowers. The area makes a good starting point or rest stop for hikes to the well-known sights nearby, including the Banderishki lakes and the trails toward Vihren, the highest peak in Pirin. In winter the whole region forms part of the mountain landscape of the Bansko ski resort.
Practical
The area is reached via the road climbing from Bansko up into the mountains, by car as far as certain trailheads and then on foot. The best time for hiking is from summer into early autumn, when the trails are open and the weather more settled. Come properly equipped for the mountains — conditions at altitude change quickly — and respect the national park rules. Access and trail details should be checked locally, depending on the season.
