About St. George Monastery at Hadjidimovo

The Monastery of "St George the Great Martyr" lies near Hadjidimovo in south-western Bulgaria, in the mountainous country around the Rila and Pirin massifs. It is a small monastic foundation dedicated to St George, a much-venerated patron in the Bulgarian Orthodox tradition.

Like many sanctuaries in this part of the country, the monastery lives above all through its peaceful atmosphere: a modest church, a quiet courtyard, and icons before which pilgrims light candles. The patronal feast on St George's Day (6 May) draws the faithful from the surrounding villages.

Practical: it is reached by car on the local roads around Hadjidimovo. As an active place of worship, dress modestly and respect services and the quiet of the grounds. Spring and summer are the most pleasant times. Detailed facts about the monastery's history and founding should be verified on site. Visitor ratings are very high (around 4.7 out of 5).
