Hram Uspenie Bogorodichno

The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God (Uspenie Bogorodichno) is an Orthodox place of worship dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos, one of the great feasts of the church year, celebrated on 15 August. This dedication is among the most common in Bulgaria, found in many towns and villages, an expression of the enduring devotion to the Mother of God in Orthodox tradition.

More a community place of prayer than a major tourist attraction, the church gives visitors a natural glimpse of local religious life. As an active place of worship, modest dress (covered shoulders and knees) and quiet during services are expected. The best time to see it celebrating is on its feast day, 15 August.
