A quiet mountain chapel

St. George's Chapel is a small place of worship in the Tsigov Chark area of the Rhodope Mountains. Little chapels like this are common across Bulgaria and play an important role in local life – places of quiet reflection, and also pleasant waypoints on forest walks. St. George (Sveti Georgi) is one of the most venerated saints in Bulgarian Orthodox tradition.

What to see

The chapel itself, with its simple, unadorned architecture, and the natural setting around it. It makes a fitting stop for a moment of calm during a walk through the resort, rather than a sight that demands much time.

Practical

It sits in the Tsigov Chark area, reachable by car or on foot from the resort. As with any place of worship, respectful dress and conduct are appreciated when entering.
