About Cave Snejanka
Snejanka Cave
Snejanka Cave (Snow White) is one of Bulgaria's most beautiful show caves, set in the Rhodope Mountains near the town of Peshtera and the Tsigov Chark holiday area, close to the Batak reservoir. Though it is a small cave, its fame comes from the richness and delicacy of its limestone formations. With a 4.8 rating, it is a highly regarded Rhodope attraction.
What to see
The cave impresses with strikingly white stalactites, stalagmites, draperies and columns. Its best-known chamber holds the formation that gave the cave its name — a fine white stalagmite likened to the fairy-tale princess Snow White. The galleries on the guided visit reveal an enchanting underground world of shapes and light play that makes Snejanka one of the most photogenic caves in the country.
Practical
Visits are guided, in groups, with a walk up a path from the car park to the entrance; check schedules and tour availability in advance, especially outside peak season, as hours can be limited. Inside, the temperature stays cool and constant year-round, so bring a jacket, and wear comfortable shoes with grip. Nearby are the Tsigov Chark recreation area and the Batak reservoir — a good combination for a full day in the Rhodopes.
