About Chirakman Cape
Chirakman Cape rises above the town of Kavarna on Bulgaria's northern Black Sea coast, a steep rocky plateau dropping toward the sea. Beyond its sweeping coastal views, the site carries real historical weight: it holds traces of very early settlement linked to the ancient town of Bizone, a Greek colony founded on this shore.
What to see From the plateau of the cape there are wide panoramas over the Black Sea, the cliffs and the harbour of Kavarna. Over time archaeologists have uncovered remains testifying to the long occupation of this headland since antiquity. The rugged landscape of rock and sea is the main reason to climb up here – a fine spot for walking, photography and taking in the coast.
Practical Chirakman Cape is close to the town of Kavarna; you reach it by climbing up to the plateau, and access is outdoors and free. Wear comfortable shoes for the uneven ground and take care near the rocky edges, especially in wind. It is most pleasant in clear weather, for visibility, and toward sunset. The Kavarna area and the northern coast – with Cape Kaliakra nearby – round out the visit nicely.
