About Church St. Peter and Paul (Dobrinishte)

The Church of "St Peter and St Paul" in Dobrinishte is the Orthodox church of a small mountain town in Pirin, next to the Bansko ski resort and known for its thermal springs. It is a community church, part of the everyday life of local people and a natural stop for visitors who come for skiing in winter and hiking in Pirin in summer.

The feast of Saints Peter and Paul (29 June) is one of the most beloved in the Orthodox calendar and is usually the liveliest moment of the year for the church, with a service and local customs. Inside, expect a well-kept church with icons and a traditional iconostasis, in the manner of the Pirin region's places of worship. (The building year and patrons need to be verified on site.)

Practical Dobrinishte lies a few kilometres from Bansko and is easily reached by car; there is also a rail link on the scenic Septemvri–Dobrinishte narrow-gauge line. It is an active place of worship — enter modestly dressed and keep quiet, especially during services. It can be visited year-round. Nearby are the town's thermal baths, the gondola up into Pirin and, a short hop away, the resort of Bansko.
