The name nods to Lake Vaya (Vaya, or Burgas Lake), Bulgaria's largest lagoon, lying right beside the city — a natural landmark for getting your bearings in this corner of the Bay of Burgas. It is a resort beach with a quieter, more laid-back feel than the big tourist hubs along the coast, suited to anyone who wants the sea within easy reach but without the crowds of the larger resorts.
