About Plazh Avata / Avata Beach
Reviewed by Tony Denesa·Updated:
Avata Beach is at Aheloy, a small, quiet coastal town on Bulgaria's southern Black Sea coast, between Pomorie and Sunny Beach in the Bay of Burgas. Away from the bustle of the big resorts, it has a secluded character, good for anyone after peace and space by the water.
Sand and water entry The sand is golden and pleasant underfoot, and the entry into the sea is gradual, deepening gently from the shore. That mild slope makes it comfortable for a relaxed swim and for time spent in the shallows. Like the rest of the Bulgarian coast, the sea is tideless and often calm on clear summer days.
Practical notes The bathing season runs roughly from May to September, with the warmest water in July and August. Aheloy sits on the coast road a short distance from Burgas and its airport, so it is easy to reach by car. The beach suits those seeking quiet; come prepared with water, sun protection and an umbrella, as beach services may be limited. For sunbeds, lifeguards or other facilities, check on site, since they vary from season to season.
