University Botanical Garden Ecopark Varna

The University Botanical Garden and Ecopark in Varna (locally known as the Ecopark) lies in the Sveti Konstantin i Elena area on the northern Black Sea coast, near Varna. It is a botanical garden laid out over hilly ground, with a rich collection of plants and a peaceful setting — an ideal green break between the beach and the city.

What to see The park holds collections of ornamental plants, trees and shrubs, many species labelled, with paths winding among shaded alleys, lawns and themed areas. It is especially loved for its iris garden, which blooms spectacularly in spring, as well as for its relaxed atmosphere, perfect for walks, picnics and photography. Being linked to the university, the place also has an educational side.

Practical The Ecopark is easily reached from Varna or from the Sveti Konstantin i Elena resort, by car or local transport. The loveliest time is spring and early summer, when the flowers are in full glory; mornings offer quiet and pleasant light. Wear comfortable shoes for the paths and bring water in hot weather. Nearby are the beaches and mineral springs of the Sveti Konstantin i Elena resort, as well as Varna's historic centre with its Archaeological Museum and the Sea Garden.
