The Beach at Sunny Beach

This is the beach of the Sunny Beach resort (Slanchev Bryag), the largest and best-known resort on Bulgaria's southern coast. The beach is really the main draw of the whole resort: a long strip of fine golden sand with a gentle entry into the sea, well suited to families with children.

What to expect

Soft sand, shallow water near the shore, and plenty of sun loungers, umbrellas and water sports in season. Bars, restaurants and clubs line the beachfront, and the atmosphere is lively and squarely geared to the summer-holiday crowd. It is a commercial, busy beach at the height of the season — appealing precisely for its energy and amenities.

Practical

The beach lies right at the heart of the Sunny Beach resort, within walking distance of most hotels. The beach season generally runs from summer into early autumn. For a quieter feel, choose the early morning or the far ends of the beach, away from the crowded centre. Nearby, the UNESCO-listed old town of Nessebar is well worth a visit.
